Shopping with the Grocery Guru

Do you ever hear about the budget savvy moms that buy two weeks worth of grocerys for literally pennies and wonder how the heck they do it? Well today I got to find out. Oh sure I've done the coupon classes and tried my best to clip coupons but soon run out of patience for cutting out all those coupons every week (or month in my case). Have you ever seen the Grocery Guru on Channel 2 on Monday mornings? He posts his phone number and takes the first 25 shoppers shopping at the specified store. Just show up and he provides all the coupons and info you need (minus the money). Today he took us shopping at the Smiths in Orem. Here is what I got.
1lb strawberries, 1 head lettuce, 10lbs of potatoes, 3lbs bananas, 6 boxes of GM cereal, 2 boxes of capri sun drinks, 2 boxes of pasta, 2 cans spaghetti sauce, 1 loaf of bread, 1 bag of hamburger buns, 3 boxes of hamburger helper (makes a great soup base he said if you don't like hamburger helper) 1 cake mix and frosting, 1 gallon of milk, 1 bag potato chips, 1 bag tortilla chips, 1 doz. eggs, 1 bag of grated cheese, 2 tubs of BBQ pork, 2 tubes of toothpaste, 4 bags of cough drops, and 2 sticks of deoderant. Grand total with tax, drum roll please....$35.67!! Wahoo!!! This wasn't store brand either it was all name brand stuff except for the hamburger buns. Plus I got more coupons when I showed him my receipt with my total savings! My savings was over $47.00 dollars!! I know this post is a little crazy but I had to share my money saving day with all my blog buddies!!
Happy Shopping
