Happy New Year!!

Well I think I can officially say our New Year came in with a very dull bang. We decided to stay home given that Kaitlyn usually goes to bed around 9:00 and we usually follow not far behind. This year however we did stay up till midnight only because a certain little someone decided to get back up around 11:30. I guess she didn't want to miss out on the festivities. So needless to say we wrapped her up in a blanket and went out to ring in the new year. There were a few neighbors still up banging pots and pans but the majority of the street was dead!! What party poopers!!
I did purchase some party hats and horns and a package of confetti and streamer poppers. The party hats looked like"Dunce" caps on Kaitlyn. She definately gave it her all when she tried to blow the party horns but wound up slobbering in them instead. The party poppers were a big hit too, as you can see. It was funny to watch her flinch just before you pulled the string.

As for New Years resolutions, I have made a few but am keeping them to myself, so when I fall off the wagon, no one will know but me. I will share this one though. I made it a point to get my 72 hr kits together. Now mind you this is only the food and no clothes or any other parts have been gathered but at least I have this part done. I managed to stuff all of this into a 1 gallon milk container. It was a feat but I succeeded!!

The packing processes. I packed and unpacked several times before I got it all to fit but there is a folding stove and fuel pellets in each one, 1 can of beanie weanies, (use the can for heating water after it is empty) 2 servings of tang and hot cocoa, 1 personal serving of ravioli, 3 fruit roll ups, 2 granola bars, 2 instant oatmeals, 2 lipton soup mixes, 2 pkgs beef jerky, matches, 2 packs of gum, 10 jolly ranchers, 3 plastic spoons, a box of raisins and a partridge in a pear tree!! (just kidding on that one). Anyway, it did all fit.

The finished product!! I have to give a small plug for one of my favorite food storage web sites. It is http://www.foodstoragemadeeasy.net/ . If any of you wish to get started on your food storage. Anyway best of luck on all of your New Years Resolutions and
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

  1. Awesome food storage containers! They are so portable- unlike my 5 gallon buckets that I am sure we would end up lugging around the kids as well as ours. Happy New Year and on the resolutions... I gave up on making those a few years ago- but best of luck on yours!
